DESCRIPTION:BMC/BMMS Mountain Medicine Weekend\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBook Now for the BMMS Mountain Medicine Weekend \nWith the easing of Covid restrictions the British Mountaineering Council and British Mountain Medicine Society are again combining to offer a weekend of Mountain Medicine Workshops on the 11th and 12th June. \nLed by experienced mountain medicine doctors and paramedics\, the weekend will consist of a series of one hour workshops.\nSubjects likely to be covered will include: \n\nAssessment of the sick or injured patient in remote areas (Primary Survey).\nHypothermia\nFrostbite and cold injuries\nHyperthermia and heat exhaustion\nEnjoying the hills with co-existing medical conditions\nHigh altitude illness\nUse of a hyperbaric (“Gamow”) bag for altitude illness.\nMedical kits for UK hill days or major expeditions.\nHand Injuries in rockclimbers\nNutrition in the hills\nEndurance Events\nSplinting and dressings\n\nIf there are more specialised topic you want to hear about we can normally find you an expert in our team. We can offer a more personal one to one ask the doctor session. \nWorkshops will run several times over the weekend for groups of 6-9 people and will be geared to the knowledge needs of the groups\, who will be allocated on the day. DESCRIPTION:17 May 2024 BMMS Day course on dental and facial maxillary problems on expeditions.\nVenue: Hathersage. Derbyshire. \n\nmountainmedicineblog.7thwave.io \nOver the weekend of the 18th and 19th May 2024\, Hathersage will again be hosting the annual Mountain Medicine Weekend. Preceding this\, on Friday 17th the British Mountain Medicine Society (BMMS) will be hosting a one day course dedicated to the treatment of facial and dental trauma. \nThe day will be led by Mr Burjor Langdana. Burj is an NHS dentist and Honorary Clinical Professor in Extreme Medicine at Exeter University. Well known to many\, his highly practical and interactive workshops have become a firm favourite amongst those seeking the skills to deliver healthcare in remote environments. The day will be split into 2 parts - both of which will be very “hands on”! The morning is set aside for facial trauma and Burj will show us how to diagnose and manage soft tissue and bony injuries. You’ll learn about the management of  fractures\, nosebleeds and jaw dislocations. In the afternoon\, we’ll take a closer look inside the mouth. Using dental models we'll learn how to administer regional anaesthesia\, incise abscesses\, insert fillings and undertake intra oral suturing!
