BMMS Lucky Jim Award 2021

BMMS DR JIM MILLEDGE MOUNTAIN MEDICINE BURSARY

(THE LUCKY JIM AWARD)

April 20th 2021

It is with great pleasure to announce the winner, and two additional 'highly commended' entries, for the first British Mountain Medicine Society's Lucky Jim Awards - named in honour of one the great pioneers, indeed the godfather, of mountain medicine and high-altitude research pioneer Prof Jim Milledge.

Entries for this 'inaugural' year for the Lucky Jim award were of a very high standard. We judged several objective criteria and scored each entry to come to a decision.

On behalf of the BMMS Trustees, congratulations to the winner and awardees and thanks to all the entrants for their efforts. Jim inspired a generation to combine their love of mountains, medicine and science to advance our understanding and make our high altitude pursuits ever safer. It is abundantly clear that this continues today and will continue to flourish through the future BMMS Lucky Jim Awards.

Best Wishes,

Jack, Gerald and Graham
