Over the weekend of the 18th and 19th May 2024, Hathersage will again be hosting the annual Mountain Medicine Weekend. Preceding this, on Friday 17th the British Mountain Medicine Society (BMMS) will be hosting a one day course dedicated to the treatment of facial and dental trauma.

The day will be led by Mr Burjor Langdana. Burj is an NHS dentist and Honorary Clinical Professor in Extreme Medicine at Exeter University. Well known to many, his highly practical and interactive workshops have become a firm favourite amongst those seeking the skills to deliver healthcare in remote environments. The day will be split into 2 parts - both of which will be very “hands on”! The morning is set aside for facial trauma and Burj will show us how to diagnose and manage soft tissue and bony injuries. You’ll learn about the management of  fractures, nosebleeds and jaw dislocations. In the afternoon, we’ll take a closer look inside the mouth. Using dental models we'll learn how to administer regional anaesthesia, incise abscesses, insert fillings and undertake intra oral suturing! Why not join us for what will prove to be a fascinating day?
